Bring Her Back Review – Chilling Aussie Horror

Not for the faint-hearted.

Grief, horror and a hell of a performance

Some horror films grab you by the throat. Bring Her Back grabs your soul, shakes it, and leaves you wondering if it’s still there.

Danny and Michael Philippou (Talk To Me) are two-for-two — this is sharp, stunning, and emotionally savage. Sure, it’s a ghost story on the surface, but underneath it’s a raw, unnerving look at grief, love, and obsession. Not the kind that makes you cry — the kind that twists you into doing the unthinkable.

Sally Hawkins is feral. Terrifying in the best way. She’s magnetic every second she’s on screen — even when you’re desperately wishing she wasn’t. The rest of the cast holds up well, but make no mistake, this is her movie.

The editing and cinematography are weaponised — every cut and camera move feels like it’s out to unnerve you. The film is gorgeous and grotesque all at once. And while it doesn’t rewrite the horror rulebook, it perfects a lot of what’s already in it.

“It’s the kind of film you watch through your fingers, then immediately want to watch again — with the lights on.”

Is Bring Her Back Worth Watching?

This isn’t a copycat or a sequel — it’s proof the Philippous are the real deal. Bring Her Back is chilling, beautiful, and bold as hell.

Score: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ - The horror film to beat this year. Watch it — if you dare.
