Cars go vroom — and it works.
Just out from seeing F1®: The Movie (yep, that’s what we’re calling it), and honestly? It’s good. Like, actually good. It doesn’t reinvent the wheel — it is the wheel. You’ve seen this structure before: underdog story, intense races, emotional beats, cue slow-motion finish line moment. But none of that matters when it’s this slick, smart, and straight-up entertaining.
This thing moves. The racing scenes are genuinely thrilling, the sound design is impeccable, and Hans Zimmer’s score is a total engine-pumper. The soundtrack slaps too — there’s a rhythm to the whole thing that keeps you locked in from start to finish.
Brad Pitt does exactly what Brad Pitt does — charismatic, steady, effortlessly cool. The supporting cast bring their A-game too. Kerry Condon (The Banshees of Inisherin) brings grounded energy to her scenes. Damson Idris (Snowfall) brings intensity and heart, and is totally convincing in the high-stakes world of F1. And Javier Bardem (No Country for Old Men, Dune) is chewing scenes with just the right amount of flair.
You’ve seen this movie before — just not with this much polish and horsepower.
✅ Slick direction and racing sequences
✅ Killer soundtrack and Zimmer’s score
✅ Cast is totally dialled in
❌ Predictable structure
It’s fast, it’s fun, it’s familiar — and that’s absolutely fine.
