Terminator 2 fans, rejoice.
Terminator 2D: No Fate was officially revealed on February 27, and after reading the reactions online, I can confidently say—it’s exactly what fans (and I) have been waiting for! This retro-inspired side-scrolling action game is pulling no punches, delivering that nostalgic Terminator magic in a fresh, modern package.
Let’s rewind a bit—Terminator 2: Judgment Day released on the NES was a bit of a letdown for me. Like most movie-to-game adaptations at the time, it didn’t really live up to my expectations. But here we are now with No Fate, and it feels like a full-blown love letter to Terminator fans. Bitmap Bureau is giving us the Terminator game we’ve wanted for decades.
The side-scrolling combat and the Terminator 2 universe? They’ve nailed it. The gameplay is just right, and they’ve taken iconic scenes from the movie and reworked the gameplay mechanics to fit those moments. Think Contra-style run and gun platforming, vehicle levels, and even escaping the institution as Sarah Connor—starting with no weapons!
It’s quickly shot to the top of my list of games for 2025!
Bitmap Bureau really gets it. They’ve taken the essence of Terminator 2 and amplified it with modern controls, smoother mechanics, and that classic side-scrolling action. Unlike the original NES game, which was notorious for its insane difficulty, I'm hoping this one doesn’t leave you frustrated (or I should just get better at games).
The pixel art? Spot on. The combat? Looks fun. I''ll be staying on top of this one like a hawk and counting down to release, and it's shaping up to be one of my most anticipated releases of the year.
Terminator 2D: No Fate is due for release on September 5.
